The Bananaverse

Like the universe, but Banana-y-er.

this will surprise precisely none of you.

You are 82% geek
OK. There is such a thing as too much geekness. I suspect you’re spending far too much time with the boys or girls of the Internet. The closer your score is to 100%, the closer you are to going right out the other side and being a nerd. Geeks rule. Where geeks are socially-inept, nerds are socially incompetent. Not even geeks can take nerds. So let’s be careful, huh? Watch a little TV, maybe listen to some popular radio, read a little Stephen King, anything to ensure you can communicate with the 99.44% of the population that isn’t all that concerned with the minutiae of whatever it is you happen to be geeky about. It’s OK to be a geek, but go much further and you’ll be a genuine bore.

Stuff.

time for bed. I’ve been thinking about a lot of things lately and I hope to see if i can get anything good to happen in my subconscious whilst I slumber.

I should mention that “Get Your War On” is a fabulous comic if you haven’t read it.

I got a gift today! My birthday present from November. Thunderball got me two books: Big Hair and Bad Hair. I’m wondering what it takes to have both…anyway. I love them and they are delightful and stupid and awesome. Kind of like The Darkness, I guess.

In some sort of time warp, I got my birthday gift in January and in February my Christmas gift from my brother shall arrive. Anyway. I’m off to bed. zzzz…

Spellbound

This is pretty interesting on a number of fronts. Spellbound is a documentary about kids that enter the nationwide spelling bee. I’m much better if I get to write them down but I coulda pulled it off. I was the nine time School District Spelling Champion, but that was a written test. I’m seeing these words these kids are spelling and they were easy then, even.

That’s cool. I’m glad someone took a not very interesting thing to most people and made a terribly interesting movie.

Except I just saw this guy say that “anyone in America who works hard will never fail”. And that’s a really nice idea, but I have worked really hard and I don’t honestly think I am a success.

!!!!!

This is the most highly fabulous thing I’ve seen in I don’t even know how long. Being a HUGE fan of cultural head-on collisions, things like this make me so very very pleased. I can’t tell you how cool it is that I found it. Watch it. It’s a tad hefty, dialup users need not apply (unless you have LOTS of patience).

Best.
Mashup.
Ever.

Yeah!!

yay!

I just erased the lamest entry in the history of entries. good lord.

So at work we get voice mail from folks who call outside business hours or when all the lines are full. I simply cannot understand what some people’s deal is. I’d really REALLY like to have a way to see what happens on the other end of the phone. Who are the people who leave these messages? First off, common sense: You are calling me because you want something from me, right? You need something from me. Why would you call and be mean? Do you think that being mean will make me help you? Do you think I’ll call you back FASTER or something, if you yell or be rude or refer to us as “you people”? “Oooooooooh, he was mean, we better call him back way before anybody else! yeah. wtf?

I’ve taken on some other things lately and it seems to be cool, I’m getting things done and getting good feedback, so that’s cool. It feels good to know that something I do matters. From the way we get treated by callers and emailers, you’d think we don’t do anything. What a lovely perception.

If I hadn’t already beaten it to death, I would be espousing my theory of doing public service before college or maybe after…like, six months of fast food and six months of headset whoredom. It should be mandatory. Seriously.

Stuff I Like Right Now

I can’t really sleep so here you go:

Music:
* Digital Droo, Active Lancer Original Soundtrack
* Fooled By April, Nice To See You
* Judith Owen (I have all of her stuff, but I like this one right now.)
* Matthew Good, Avalanche. Buy it. Fo real, yo. I ain’t playin! Real rock with brilliant lyrics. Everyone should fall at his feet in abject worship. Starting with me. Back off!
* BT, Emotional Technology. What a good record. It doesn’t blow my mind like Ima, but who cares? Blonde. Hot. Mad DJ skizzills. He’s slightly ahead of Matt Good on the List Of Folks Verso Wants To Lick. It’s a really short list.
* Outkast, Hey Ya. What a brilliant song. As a shameless pop music hussy I highly recommend it. J.Ro would tell you that it is just alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright… (:

Clothes:
* I bought a couple of perfect Ts from Old Navy and a pair of girls jeans. For those unfamiliar with my wardrobe, buying all girly clothes is a pretty big step ovah hyah. One of the shirts is this purply pinky color even! Yeah. Everyone I know needs Old Navy Jeans. They’re cheap and soft and comfy and they seem well built. We shall see. Small gripe with these stretch jeans perpetrators: If they stretch, shouldn’t they be the same size but stretchy instead of actually being like two sizes smaller and making you shimmy into them? That just stretches your pantalones extra tight over the parts you are trying to disguise (if you have them). What good is that?
* My blue sweater with red trim. I feel cute wearing it, so I hope it looks cute too!
* I do not own it yet, but soon. And I can’t link directly to it, but this is fab and will be mine. (You can see the order page hyah if the spirit moves you to get me one yourself. Or anything else on the page, really. mmm.)
* My sorta new shoes. They are so nice to wear. Who knew that I needed shoes that fit me? wtf?

Stuff:
* My new Palm is proving groovy indeed. It’d be groovier if I bought that Atari Classics card for it, but I’m good for now. I just deeply need a case.
* My new driver’s license is delightful. Comparing it to my lj pic is weird though. I thought I had a lot of hair before, and now that it’s longer, damn!
* I must mention the new PowerBook again. Tasty AND delicious. When The Scoot is casting a covetous eye, you know it’s awesome.
* Soon The Big Lebowski will be my own and I will be pleased. South Park too. woohoo!
* I’m desperate to crack open this book Frog got me for Christmas, I simply haven’t had the time. That, and Da Vinci Code, and and and…le sigh.
* Super Mario Kart: Double Dash. I can’t even do cool stuff and I think it’s awesome. Yay!
* Party Friday night for the movie I worked on. Yay again!
* Beelzitbub is finally retreating.
* Double Bergamot Earl Grey Tea. Heavens, that’s tasty!
* I always win the Whisper Game.

And that’s my list for this very moment. I’m trying to be cheerful since I’ll hate life tomorrow for not getting sleep again.

cha cha cha

I’m off to bed now. I wanted to hang online and chat but I just didn’t get time, I am so sleepy all the time lately and I don’t want to end up a snoring puddle of drool at work, so I am of to bed early tonight.

We had dinner up the street at the mexican restaurant. It took about eight million years for anything to happen at any point. I mean, I am by no means the world’s fastest eater, but when I manage to finish off my tortillas, ask for more, and pick at my fajita leftovers (since I have no tortillas) and eat anything good out of them and start working on the stuff I don’t really like anyway BEFORE she gets the rest to me? I only got one tea refill, our food took forEVER, and then she decimated any kind of payment system at the end-we had to get a manager to work it out, and it wasn’t difficult or anything, but geez! It sucked all the way around. Except for the chip and salsa amigo…he was rockin it, let me tell you. It was like he could tell from anywhere that we were nearly out of chips or salsa and he magically appeared with more. If he hadn’t been so on top of things, I don’t think we would have realized how non-existent our waitress was.

I’d like to point out that just because everyone else in the free world spells it ‘existant’ doesn’t make them right. So if it looks weird to you, go get a dictionary. You don’t mess with a nine year School District Spelling Champion. Seriously.

Bed beckons. yawn….

Fags. Wheels.

We went to Fags On Wheels tonight. It was totally fun! Music sucked, as usual, but that’s just because they don’t let me in the booth. (:

Then we shlepped off to Chevy’s to have drinkies. It was fun! TirkyJirky, Urtho, The Hatter, BianP, Trav, WegM, and J.Ro were there. It was a lot of people and we had a good time. Mmmm. Anyway, I’m off to bed after two prickly pear-ritas and it was great. Our tender of bar threw in shots for nothing, it was great! Niiiiiiiiiiiiight. (:

woot!

Boring day at work today. Now me and J.Ro are watching I Love The 80’s and it’s great. Hee hee hee!

Anyway. Fags On Wheels is tonight I guess. Juliette Lewis looks wrong no matter what hair she has. I’m so crushing on Hal Sparks, though…he’s such a pleasing combination of spazzy and dorky that I just know what to do with myself. PLUS he plays a queen on the tv. He must be mine.

Yeah.

shoes and snow

Well.

Today I went and played with snowshoes on Mt Hood with The Scoot, Papa The Scoot, and their usual partner in crime, The Dude (trust me, it fits). It was weird at first, but then it was cool because I was trying something new. Then The Scoot took off with The Dude, and I couldn’t keep up so I just kinda stood around watching people hurtle down the hill on sleds and tubes and things I didn’t recognize. I was offered a demo of one of these, and of course the opportunity to hurl myself off the side of a hill overcame me and I went for it. Up the hill with no snowshoes is really really hard when the snow is knee deep or deeper. So I went up to the top and flung myself down the hill and it was awesome until I hit a bump and flew off and ate it. Hard. It was fun! So eventually I strapped my snowshoes back on and I went back down to the parking lot. They weren’t our snowshoes, REI was having a demo day so we got to try a few different kinds. Some of them are a lot nicer than others, I think it must be personal taste or something, some people really liked the ones I thought were dreadful.

Then we headed home, and we tried to go to Timberline and have some nice lunchyness, but we couldn’t get any parking so we had to head back down the hill. We stopped and ate at the Zig Zag Inn (from the menu: In the heart of beautiful downtown Zig Zag!) and had a fat buncha pizza and came home. It was really nice. What a nice day, really.

Got my hair cut yesterday, woo! I like when all the underneath stuff is real short. All the rest of my hair is so long now, I’m hoping I’m near the point where the weight overcomes the width and I can pretend my hair is reasonable. That would be great! Tomorrow it’s back to work for me!

I don’t want to go to work tomorrow, but I guess I have to. I really want three days in a row once in awhile. Ah, work. A lot less stressful now that we’ve hired back the rockin girl who does a lot of stuff and really makes a difference in my own personal stress level. Whew! It also takes a load off my work week since it isn’t 60 or more hours a week now. ahhhhh.

I’m watching Season 4 of The Sopranos right now, it’s kinda nice. I managed to reel The Scoot in so we have something to do together, which I like. There isn’t much we both like to do together, so I like finding things that we both like.

Not a whole helluva lot else is going on, it’s been slow since things have defrosted. Hopefully Leoscorp will be over later and we can play some stupid game and have loads of fun doing it. I fully agree with him on this, there’s a point at which bar tolerance is reached. So yay for that.

Only two Sopranos eps left…I’mma go watch em now and enjoy them. How much is HBO again? And will those fuckers throw in Showtime for me? I’d like to think so, but I doubt it will happen.

Random musings…

So recently J.Ro and I have been discussing random thingies. Here you go!

* Apparently only when J.Ro goes to Disneyland is it a High Holy Day-he insists that all he sees at Disneyland is nuns. This led to:

- Big Nunder Mountain Railroad
- Nundiana Jones (that cool rollercoastery ride thing in the jeeps)
- Iiiiiiit’s a small nun aaaaafter alllllllll…
- It’s Tough To Be A Nun (a 3d experience)
- Tower of Terror (the name doesn’t change but when you get to the top it doesn’t drop you, you get thwacked on the knuckles by you know who)

Also, on the way home tonight we talked about a rest stop before we went home, but to the tune of “Shake Your Tailfeather”…where you from, tell me sum’m, where’s the men’s room? And so on. It was terrifying. “The window sticks fuck it cuz the fan’s still on” and it got worse from there.

I made J.Ro laugh, and I always really like it when that happens since it’s so rare and he makes me laugh a lot of the time. I feel really special when he giggles at something I said instead of the other way around.

I’m off to bed now. Technically since I haven’t been yet, I can still feel like I wrote this “today”. so sreepy!

heh.

OK!

So tonight we went out, J.Ro and I. Partly to celebrate the fact that I got my driver’s license again today (long story) and that it was dollar drink night (even though the ones i like best are really like TWO dollars).

We sat down and I happened to look over and see Uki of all people, so I headed his direction. This is interesting because I just saw him there and went to say hi, I didn’t realize he’d been there like moments. So I went to say hi and I think he has some sort of fluffy-dar because just as I walked up, there he was!

Anyway. We chatted him up…some guy Matt (I think) and his boyfriend Goddammit (middle name: Hesdatingmatt) were with Uki so we were kind to them as well and after a couple we went to Scandals for some super foodage (YAY for the chicken strips that turned out to be patties) and were waited on by Touchtouch McFeely. eek!

Then we ended up at the Brig or wtf they call it these days, for another drinkypoo when lo and behold we see Big R, BenBen, and various other usual suspects oot and aboot. (: They actually played something worth dancing to (Oakenfold extended mix of Rock Your Body) and then ruined my groove by playing some crap by someone I don’t like (but I dont’ remember who it was).

Eventually we got bored and came home-who plays 50 Cent in a gay bar for sobbing out loud!?

So now I’m home. The Scoot sleeps and I’m headed down the hall to try that myself. I have nowhere to be until 5 tomorrow night. woot! I’m feeling lazy lately.

It was really nice to be out tonight though, just for the change of scenery if nothing else. It was nice to see people and hear Oakenfold. (:

every day, I said!

One of my resolutions was that I would write every day, just so I could get into the habit of setting time aside each day to do it. Anyway.

Today I had lunch from Burgerville. I was glad of that. It was nice to get a regular lunch, but even nicer to get the change of scenery.

I was realizing that it seems so hard to meet people anymore, but I don’t know where the hell people met before. Where did your parents meet? Your grandparents? Leave a comment, I’m really curious.

I’m so tired, I think I’ll go to sleep and see if that makes me more functional tomorrow. I sure hope so!!!

Anyway. I’m slowly moving into the new tech, it’s going well so far. I hope that it continues to be this easy to do…

On that note, I’m off to bed. I will write more tomorrow.

who are you, again?

So me and J.Ro went to Old Navy today. I wanted to buy some things to further one of my resolutions. So I got some jeans and a couple of t-shirts and undies (woo woo!). I tried on the jeans with one of the t-shirts, and I came out and J.Ro said “Who are you again? Can you go back there and find the regular Verso?” So I guess I did pretty well, he liked me well enough in my new outfit, so I was glad of that. It was nice to put on something that wasn’t hideous and feel good in it.

However, I don’t understand why it is that jeans that are not for boys have ZERO pocket in them! Is it because I’m supposed to have a purse that holds everything? I mean honestly! I checked against my Levi’s, and those pockets are TWICE the size of the ones in my new jeans. I tried a new pair of girlie Levi’s recently too, and even in those they were teeny pockets. Grrr. What’s the deal? I just get irritated. I’m not supposed to have pockets or something? If not, then don’t effing put them there! ahhhh!

I’m off to help clean birdcages now. Yay me! I also got the tree down, so I did at least one thing tonight that is on my list. Anyway. Birdcages, here I come!!

yawn.

I didn’t really do much today…I went to work, and got a lot more done than I should have for having ZERO motivation to be there. Somehow sitting on a couch at work with a laptop is a lot less appealing than sitting at home…on a couch…with a laptop. I think it’s the DVD player with the big speakers and the nicely sized TV that make the difference. Plus I have a Season 4 DVD here from Blockbuster. That and the fact that I control the temperature here. Hmm.

I have to stare down The Scoot for whatever reason. He thinks I’m slacking or something, so I gotta wrap this up.

I have Hey Ya on repeat one, where it’s the same song again and again. I think it’s hilarious that (according to J.Ro) this song is not only on Simon LeBon’s iPod, but that it is one of his top 10 of the year. We discussed a Duran version of Hey Ya. I can hear Simon going “lend me some shugah” in the sexy voice. The Love Below, indeed.

OK, well, I have some resolutions for the year, and I’m going to set them all up tomorrow I guess, since I did kind of slack on writing this. I was cruising the net for a new coin purse since I don’t really have a change pocket in this new purse like I did in the last one. Of course, it IS a container, which is my weakness. Now if only there was a super cute Badtz-Maru one…I wonder if my cartoon weaknesses aren’t progressing slightly, like when you move up from inherited furniture to flat-pack furniture to real furniture from a real store. I went from Badtz-Maru (whose days are numbered, from what I understand) to Julius who is the most adorable goddamn thing you ever saw. Well. Except maybe for Kermius. (:

Anyway. Off to bed with me. Perhaps there’s shopping in my future tomorrow, new pants and maybe a couple of shirts. God Bless Old Navy. They might be helping in my resolutions. We’ll have to see. Night!!

What a day!

While it can suck a lot to try to remain living in the past, there’s nothing that says that you can’t bring some of the better parts with you. I emailed an old friend today and I’m hoping to reinstate contact.

The roof of one of the Fred Meyer entrances collapsed today. The weight of the snow and ice after it got rained on. Yay.

I’m trying to keep this daily post thing happening. So far I don’t think I’m doing very well.

People who think they’re being cute on the phone are usually just bitches.

I simply cannot understand how it is that people who are such utter wastes of skin can get any satisfaction out of life.

I bought J.Ro a gift today. I hope he likes it. It’s just a because present-because I saw it in the store and realized that he NEEDED this. (:

I answer an awful lot of email in a day.

It’s really nice to be recognized at work when you bust your ass. It’s even better when you don’t have to do the pointing out.

I have decided to name the rebellious growth in that little spot that’s not quite nose and not quite cheek. I dub thee “Beelzitbub”, blemish from the bowels of hell!

Speaking of bowels…no, nevermind.

Like it isn’t bad enough I have to wear long johns under everything which does nothing for my (not all that) girlish figure, now I have to wear long johns AND be bloated. happy happy. joy joy.

Every month I think a bit more about that ShopVac attachment. Hey, that SOB is wet/dry, it oughta do the job!

I really miss having another couple to do things with-Me and J.Ro like to goof off with others and it’d be nice if we could do so more often.

I’ll try to write coherently later. For now, I just need to go to bed. blarrrrr.

brr, bitch, brr!!!!!

it’s effin cold. Yesterday I went to work grudgingly, but ended up wrapping it up about 12:30 due to freezing rain. It was nasty. J.Ro did make it home, yay. I worry about him. I love Paurl, but he’s not a snowmobile.

Speaking of Paurl, it turns out Margaret Cho is one of the judges of this contest that should be very cool. is the link to it, you go now!

I thought I’d go in today, but no. Called da boss and told him that when I said I was ready for work that The Scoot laughed at me and said that the wipers were frozen to the window of the car that was frozen to the road. I pondered the bus, but that involves a serious hike that I was just not wanting to make across icyness and general slickery.

Anyway. Today it was sort of melty and then freezing rain re-solidified everything. Tomorrow will be interesting too. I’m so glad I got a new jacket! Screw you Old Man Winter, I got Gore-Tex and weatherproof taped seams. Bring it! Me and J.Ro walked to Blockbuster and got two movies. Scary Movie 2 wasn’t too bad, there were some funny parts. We didn’t see the other one yet, I had to save something for tomorrow! (:

I need to make some resolutions, but I think I’ll wait till I defrost for that sort of thing. We’ll see if I’m still snowbound tomorrow.

It’s a grunyo-copia!

Fuck you, DMV. Fuck you right in your stupid blind spot!

I just needed to snarl about that a bit. grrrrrr. snarl. rrrrrrrraggggggg!

Now I go back on the 15th at 2:30 to throw down with them again.

You know what that means?

If I go there one more time (after that) oh, it’s ON!

Do you hear that? RIGHT in the blind spot! unh unh unh!
