not fair.

Well, my gramma died. Then I came back to find out that my coworker’s gramma died the next day so he was gone too. Then he came back and I found out he was real good friends with Elliott Smith (who committed suicide earlier this week) and that he got that call right after getting back from his gramma’s funeral. Zenmondo is having such a hard time with things right now, not to mention J.Ro and BianP…it’s just not a good time to be me, or even someone I like! Wil’s wife Anne’s gramma is real sick or something, so they’re headed this way according to his blog.

Grammas in poor health-it’s the craze that’s sweeping the nation!

This sucks a lot. I wish there was something I could do. blah. I busted my ass at work today and I don’t feel like I got ahead, so maybe I’ll go in later or tomorrow or something. Anyway. blar.

real quick like:

I’m home. Hooray for civilization. Some randomness from the wilderness:

* Boy Penney’s is open late! 6:45 PM

* I’m worried about my mom. I should have gone today and stayed through the weekend.

* I really like my family. Most of them are pretty cool.

* Church is weird when you haven’t been there in awhile.

* You forget how much oddity is in your family until you have to explain it to others.

* When you go visit your parents but they don’t live in the house you grew up in, is it still going “home” to visit?

* My grandma’s funeral was very nice.

* I’m glad as many people came as they did. She’d be happy about that.

happiness and sadness

I just woke up a bit ago. My mom called me. For the second morning in a row, my mom got me out of bed.

Yesterday morning she called me because her mom passed away. She’d been in the hospital for a day or two and it didn’t look good. My grandma was living in a group home sort of thing, she fell and broke her hip a few years ago and she had a stroke while she was in the hospital so she didn’t really get to go home after that. It was a nice place, I suppose, and my family all went to see her and decorated for the different holidays and stuff. And now she’s gone. My mom even said “your grandma passed away last night”, not her mom. I think it’s easier for her that way. So now I’m going home to see my mom because there will be a point when she has to stop deciding and planning and making arrangements and deal. I’m not really going for the funeral or the fam or whatever, I’m going to be there for my mom.

Then last night (it was a really odd day), after waking up on that note, and then going to work all day (I’m still not tired of that!), I went to the Halloween Martha Party. I think I’ve explained Martha. I hope so. It’s a bit complex. Anyway. J.Ro and I went as Sharon and Ozzy. Yes, in that order. J.Ro put on a purply wig and some boobs and I put on a long black wig and round blue glasses. We were a hit, I have to say. Even Donatella Versace (our friend Brian) thought we looked fab. So there you go. We had a good time, it was a bit rowdy, and there was a marriage proposal! It was loads of fun. I really enjoyed it. But back to reality today.

I have to figure out if J.Ro is up for a road trip, and face my day and everything, so I’m off. Hopefully I can get some time on the net while I’m back there. We’ll have to see.

Call for oddity! This means you!

I’m so goddamned chatty today!

So I’m currently working on something. Aside from the film that I am working on. I need to have some odd stories about people that might be you or might be someone you know. Either one will work. Odd, interesting, crazy, weird, or just plain effed up. Any of these will do. Email me if you have my addy, or just post a comment. I’m serious about this, please help me out and I will find a good way to reward you. Seriously. (:

Off to work! I mean it! I gotta go in a couple of minutes, and my hair ain’t did yet!

Indulging My Sun Sign

This occurred to me yesterday and I need to get it out of my head and on the page.

Burning bridges is sometimes a really good way to light the way ahead.

A bit dramatic perhaps, but from time to time I feel like this is exactly what’s needed. I’m not proud of the fact that my Scorpio streak gets the better of me sometimes, but there you go.

In Other News…

I felt a need to chat up ZenMondo yesterday, what with current events being as they are.

I’m glad I did. I’m real glad. It’s so nice to have a friend like him, I knew better than to pretend that I wasn’t getting that “call him call him now now now” vibe. Like before. It’s a very odd relationship, I have to say, but it was wonderful to chat with him about other things aside from current events, and I’ll be calling again soon to chat him up about frivolity once things settle down again. He needs to have some frivolous chat with someone soon, and it will be me, I hope.

My heart goes out to ZenMondo, KeltGrrl, the kidlet, and Skya. Skya isn’t going to sit down and talk about how she feels, but I’m sure she picks up on the sorrow, and she doesn’t understand, so it’s hard for her too, I’m sure.

If you lived closer, guys, I’d bring you some Bossk Brownies or something. And it would be a joy to make them. I hope you know that you are thought of. And I’m sure I’m not the only one doing the thinking.

wow!

damn!

I just heard a news story about this bajillion dollar aid package for Iraq. They said that some senators strayed from party lines (are you ready for this?) “GIVING MORE WEIGHT TO CONSTITUENT CONCERNS!”

oh my GORD, it’s like they remembered their jobs! They realized how in the hell they got there, and that they should LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE WHO ELECTED THEM. Ho-lee crap.

Still not the right thing to do, I guess, but the fact that a buncha phone calls and faxes and emails and things makes a difference gives me a teeny bit of hope.

That’s it. I’m off to get dressed.

ripped from the headlines…

This woman, who I presume to be some sort of lawyer, just said that buying a ticket to a NY Giants game (that’s football for you non-sports types) “is an invitation to a party”.

Bullshit. Utter bullshit. I don’t care what happened. What happened is that this family was driving and some asshole drank 14 beers at a Giants game and drove home and he crashed into them-they have a 2 year old (she’s 6 now) who was in the car and now she’s paralyzed. I’m not saying it’s right, I’m not saying it’s justified. I’m saying it was an accident. And it’s horrible. And it’s not the NFL’s problem. They’re suing the Giants and the NFL for doing this to their daughter. If I’m not mistaken those were the actual words.

I’m not done with this by a long shot, but it’s workytime, so I’ll finish ranting about it later.

heh.

I found this during lunch and thought I’d share it with you. Here’s the summary:

The election of Arnold Schwartzenegger to governor of California seems too broad for satire, and it’s now lost to us forever as a throwaway joke in a short story. The Infinite Matrix asked a few SF writers, editors, and physicians for pithy comments, and this is what we got. Some are pithy, some not.

I think it’s fabulous. My favorite? “He’s still smarter than the president.” heh. Enjoy!

And while I’m handing out fab links, please oh please oh please check out the boobie-thon and consider contributing a pair to them, as well as some cash. They’d appreciate it. You can find them here.

standing on the verge of tears, looking into SobLikeAGirl Canyon…

I just took an order for a fellow who called up to buy a CD because he would like it for a funeral. For his baby daughter. Who was a special needs child they just adopted from Ecuador, the adoption went through about two months ago. He needs the song for the funeral tomorrow. I helped him out. But I was on the edge of tears and I told him that I wished there was something more I could do than take the order and offer my condolences. He said they had made their peace with it, and that she was in a better place now, where she could dance, which she couldn’t do before.

And this is where I stop this journal entry before I hurl myself into the aforementioned canyon.

aww…

I just saw Sigfried on the Today show, it was sad to me to listen to him talk about Roy. He just kind of sat there during some questions about the show and stuff, but when he talked about Roy, his eyes lit up and he was animated, but his voice wavered a little, and it was sad to hear. I think it’s interesting that nobody has acknowledged that their relationship is a bit more than two guys who do a show in Vegas. Doesn’t that make it more of a human interest story? This is his partner onstage and in life, it makes it just that much more interesting a story, and it’ll certainly sell more papers or get more viewers or whatever it is that decides the news these days. It certainly isn’t the news that dictates it, but that’s another rant. It doesn’t have to be a big deal or anything, just mention it, I mean, they talk about other parts of his life, can’t they just say something? Or are they afraid that some people will be shocked and wonder who else is gay, Liberace? Whatever. I’m off to get ready for work now.

shmumfy!

I have a sweater that I got from The Scoot. It looks like an old man sweater in my opinion, it’s a pullover thing with one weird rectangular button and a wide collary area.

I love it and I wear it a lot so I wash it a lot. I put it on today and it felt like a hug. I’ve never noticed until now, but it totally does, and it makes me feel good to wear, and I like it because it reminds me of The Scoot because he gave it to me.

It was a nice moment, so there you go.

Casting!

Well then!

We’ve got a cast! We’re actually going to make this thing! I can’t believe it! I’m full of exclamation points! Anyway.

We’ve taken each person out for a meeting that we cast, and they were fabulous. We took L. to Red Robin and he was thrilled, we had lunch with D. at Mcmenamin’s and coffee with N, and then tonight we had dinner with R. I’m thrilled to get to work with them. They are a fab cast and I can’t be more pleased about the group we got, which was my intent, the right group.

I hope this goes as well as the first part has! I’m getting excited now that it seems like things might happen. On to crew! Getting things done seems to give me more energy to do things. How weird is that? I’m off to bed now. There’s snuggles there. (:

wtf?

I can’t believe he won. How is it that California put this wingnut in charge of an economy larger than that of most of Europe? How can this possibly be a good idea? What can make this happen? From what I understand, they are holding Gray Davis responsible for a lot of crap that isn’t even his fault. If I was less nice, I would say that if this is what California really believes, then they deserve him.

Don’t think that I believe that ALL of California thinks this is a good idea. Maybe Davis wasn’t the best, but I really doubt he was the worst, either. I just can’t believe it.

I’m off to work now. Holy crap.

you’re kidding.

All of a sudden Teresa’s son is all older and stuff and can talk to her, and Gwen just sashayed outta the hospital when she’s about to pop? whatever. And are the nurses and the DOCTOR really going to lecture her? oh for sobbing out loud!

Now I understand why they refer to James E Reilly (the man in charge of both soaps) on the boards as JERk.

As a fan of Days for more than two decades, I am also considering giving that habit up altogether. It’s so sad really, that someone could run Days into the ground like that. HelLO, summer is over, can we watch something besides the teens now? Blah. And a serial killer? bitch please.

Yeah yeah, another stupid rant. Anyway. I’m off to get things done today.

wow!

Damn. Yesterday.

I woke up, made The Scoot his lunch, sent him off to work, got myself together and caught my bus, which was early, so I nearly missed it, and if I hadn’t sprinted to the corner based on a a feeling I had, I woulda done missed the bus!

Then I got to work. I worked on what I could, and tried real hard, so hopefully something got accomplished. While I was at work, I managed to frantically organize a stack of callbacks.

You’ll notice at no point that I mention eating. Because I didn’t.

So now I somehow manage to coordinate a camera drop, and my transport to the Convention Center. We get there, everything seems ok, there were signs, we were early, but not as early as our potential cast. Dammit.

On our way there, I found a pudding cup in my backpack from yesterday, so I ate that.

We hold callbacks, and I’m thrilled with the results. There are standout moments in my mind from everyone we saw, and I’m really glad the planets aligned in our favor.

During callbacks I remembered a soda machine so I got a cherry coke.

We’re wrapping up and getting the F outta the Holiday Inn, when J.Ro calls me: The Hatter and Big L are downtown, wanna go? What the hell, replies Verso, The Scoot is on a camping trip, so yeah, let’s go.

I get home, change, eat two Chewy Chocolate Chips Ahoy, and off we go.

Once downtown, we have some beverages and Sam (the doorman) is trying to help this guy find a good place to hang. We were sitting outside and I said “Sam, honey, just leave him to us.” So the guy comes over and wants to know about the city. We tell him some good sights to see, and some places where the view is delightful as well, if you follow me. Well we ended up reeling him in for the evening, and after some cellphone sex to distribute phone numbers, we hung with him and with the Hatter and Big L until Big L and the Hatter went across the street. Eventually the new guy returned, and as it turns out, he and J.Ro have similar preferences in mens, which sadly, is not a taste that runs toward each other, but not so sadly, since he’s only hyah for a month.

So eventually I had some beverages and a basket of fries (Thanks Scottypuss!) with zesty dill sauce, and all told it was a really good time. Even if I was a bit cracked out and not quite on top of things, it was still really fun.

But now I have to get to work, blah, but I have to call people about callbacks while I’m there, yay! So that’s all for now. I’mma bike to work. We’ll see how this goes. (:
